Forging the Future: The Blueprint for Tomorrow's Emerging Workforce

Redmond has long been the hub of our region’s manufacturing and trades, and with millions of new jobs emerging in the next decade, there has never been a more vital time to talk about our future. We are thrilled to invite you to the REDI Annual Luncheon on April 8th to explore a blueprint for transforming tomorrow’s workforce.

This year, we are diving deep into the career opportunities—offering strong wages and stability—that are currently waiting for the next generation of workers. Our program features:

  • Keynote Speaker Jamie McMillan: A trailblazing ironworker and motivational speaker who is dismantling stigmas and helping leaders improve recruitment and retention in skilled trades and beyond.
  • Redmond’s Economic Pulse: A podcast-style presentation from Oregon State Economist Damon Runberg and REDI Director Steve Curley on the economic indicators propelling our region's prosperity.
  • Networking & Community: Connect with local leaders over a family-style lunch while we discuss how to forge the future of tomorrow’s workforce together.

Agenda:

10:45 AM - Doors open for early check-in
11:00 AM - Networking and registration
11:30 AM - Program begins
12:15 PM - Keynote Presentation: Forging the Future Workforce in Skilled Trades and Beyond
1:30 PM - Adjourn

Looking to bring the whole team? Corporate Table Sponsorships include reserved seating for eight of your colleagues or friends. Please contact the REDI office directly to secure a table.

We can't wait to see you there as we work to forge the future of Central Oregon’s economic prosperity.

About Jamie McMillan:

Jamie became an ironworker in 2002 when women only represented 2% of the workforce across Canada and the United States. She thoroughly understands the struggles and challenges of working a male dominated workforce and is on mission to break down the negative misconceptions and stereotypes.

Through KickAss Careers, Jamie travels approximately 30 weeks a year providing engaging keynote presentations and workshops to more than 50,000 students, parents, educators and employers each year across North America. Her efforts have gained international notoriety for opening doors and minds to the possibilities of well-paid careers in skilled trades and technology sectors.
