“Umpqua Dairy is a commodity based food business. Profit margins are thin and some years nonexistent. We are always looking to reduce expenses while still providing for our employees. But there have been times recently when business was challenging. In those years the amount of tax that measure 97 would require us to pay would exceed our profit margin by a large amount.
